This will be the first year we actually stuff some stockings. The last few years we have just hung the stockings but didn’t fill them mainly because Miss S was completely unaware of them in our house. My parents have always made a big deal of them when we head over to their house on Christmas day – but I don’t think she really understood what was going on.
This isn’t your typical Karva Chauth gift guide. Well technically I’ve never even seen a gift guide for Karva Chauth on the internet before. So this could even be the FIRST Karva Chauth gift guide – and quite honestly the only one you need ;)
Don’t know what Karva Chauth is? Read about it here.
This is going to be my 5th or 6th Karva Chauth. Yes we’ve been married 7 years now but between kids (aka being pregnant or exclusively breastfeeding) I’ve missed a few here and there.
Any whoo – on to the gift guide.
I put this together to help my husband and the other fellas looking for something useful to give your wife. I mean yes you could go the typical route (some type of 24k jewelry) or your could get her something(s) that she will actually use.
Bamboo Arc Handbag (find it here)
Yes the Cult Gaia was all the rage in summer but I think it would super cute with an indian outfit especially at a lower price point ;)
Vans Sk8 Lite (find them here)
Not actually sure when I went from being a can’t-feel-my-feet-because-I’m-always-in-stillettos to a mommy-sneaker-head but that is where I am at now. I have purchased more #athleteleasure shoes in the past 3 years than I have heels. #WhoAmI
Initial necklace and Heart Ring (find them here and here)
I am all about the ghetto love jewelry. I have a bar necklace with the girls names on it but it wasn’t until after I started wearing it did I feel that it was too invasive (I mean I avoid even saying their names on this blog). But I love the representation of wearing them in my jewelry. This heart ring it something that I’ve been eye for a year and I am happy to have found a Canadian retailer who has it.
Passion Planner (find it here)
I am a planner addict (something the husband just doesn’t understand). I even have a few planners that haven’t been used yet. So technically I don’t really need/want this but I had to include the undated version in my gift guide.
Planet friendly make up (foundation is from here and nail polish can be found here)
I’ve mentioned before that I’ve stopped eating chicken and bacon – and its probably the most proud of myself I’ve been in a long time. Doing this has also made me more conscious about the other aspects of my life that are no so planet friendly. I figure foundation powder and nail polish is a good start.
Rebel Mama Jersery (find it here)
I follow these ladies on instagram. All of their posts have either got me nodding in agreement or laughing historically (also in agreement). This is not your typical parenting advice site/mommy blog. I love their blunt-unapologetic-straight up advice and account of motherhood. I strive to be this kind of mom friend to my mom friends lol
Travel coffee cup (find it here)
Just because I always feel guilty getting coffee from mcds or stabies – hopefully having something like this will help.
When I was young I would always gift my dad a handmade gift from school or girl guides. He still even has one of those gifts hanging in the garage (I think – will check next time I’m there and snap a pic). Anywhooo – here are some gift ideas for Father’s Day.
Smart Phone Charger | Beverage of Choice | Silicone wedding band | Ankle Socks | Waterbottle
Jess actually talks about how important mothering is and that the shiny penny career focus is a societal pressure. Instead we (as moms and society) should consider motherhood as chance to expand the universe (whoa) and focus on soul care. I loved her thoughts on this and personally feel I am doing my best to live those words.
this momma is trying to give her husband some subtle hints here is my round up of awesome mothers day gifts. LOL but in all honesty I might wanna treat myself to some of these goodies :)
Lastly, I wanted to share some momprenuers that totally inspire me.
I love reading small business / wanteprenuer-to-entreprenuer stories. It might sound odd but I find these types of stories soo invigorating. The ladies mentioned above have started some awesome businesses (a Lifestyle Brand, Planner/Workbook and Fashion Empire respectively) and continue to be amazing moms to their kids.
Pinterest and Instagram have DROOL worthy baby gear. Honestly all the muslin blankets and cute bonnets would do me under. But I stuck to my guns and didn’t go overboard. Luckily we had pretty much EVERYTHING from Miss S’s time and didn’t have to buy much (other than diapers and wipes).
Here is my list of must haves for right after baby arrives!
Belly Bandit – I actually bought this when Miss S was nine months and it really helped. I know they say you should wear it right after you deliver but I think it works at any time.
Medela Freestyle BreastPump – We ended up using our previously loved pump by replacing a few of the parts and cleaning/sanitizing other parts. Great investment!
Aveeno Baby Wash and Lotion – The last time around it took us a LONG time for figure out what to use on newborn skin. Our paediatrician recommended Aveeno and we stuck with it every since. (We also use this and this for Miss S now that she’s older).
Disposable Nursing Pads: I wasn’t able to do the reusable ones just and these worked really well.
Grace Travel Lite Crib – Both Miss S and now Miss El slept in here while in our room. The only issue is that baby can grow out of it real fast! The great thing about it is that it has stages so it can be used as a playpen (as long as baby fits).
S’Well Water bottle – I have two #Guilty! One on my bed side and one downstairs (that I throw in the diaper bag when I am heading out). This bottle is soo good. It keeps cold water cold for 12 hours and hot water hot for 4-6 hours. That said, they are not cheap but totally worth it.
Sakura Bloom Ring Sling – This was actually the first “baby item” I bought when I was expecting with Miss S. I really learned to love baby wearing and “wore” Miss S until she was 15 months old. I specifically love this line of slings because it’s a bit more stylish than a carrier with 40 buckels and a padded body wrap :)
The last of my #GiftGuides and I am happy to report that I am just finishing up my shopping (and most of my gifts are wrapped!). It feels good to be finished well in advance. Heading out to meet my high school friends for annual Christmas gathering.
PS: if you need any other #giftguides, be sure to check this out!
