Happy 3rd birthday to my sweet Miss S. I spent some time reading the cards I wrote you in previous years and I am excited that the pile of yearly birthday cards is growing :) Had fun surprising you this morning with balloons in your room, singing happy birthday to you at 6:50am and for your reaction to your gift (that you still have to grow into). Excited to celebrate later today and this week. I love you!
When I was young I would always gift my dad a handmade gift from school or girl guides. He still even has one of those gifts hanging in the garage (I think – will check next time I’m there and snap a pic). Anywhooo – here are some gift ideas for Father’s Day.
Smart Phone Charger | Beverage of Choice | Silicone wedding band | Ankle Socks | Waterbottle
We had an awesome weekend. The weather was superb and the blazing heat was welcomed because we experienced such an overcast and gloomy spring.
Friday we had wings at home and then packed up the car to get ready for the next day. We spent the better part of the day at the beach we were pleasantly surprised as to how much Miss S enjoyed herself but were perplexed as to why Miss El seemed so confused the entire time we were there. We later realized it was because we were all wearing sunglasses (and maybe she couldn’t recognize us lol).
Sunday we were at a birthday party. Backyard bouncy castle, Pizza with chip toppings and lots of kids of course.
The workweek was actually spent running sooo many errands. From doing groceries, to gift shopping, to getting last minute stuff for the day at the beach as well as planning for Miss S’ 3rd birthday.
Also I’d just like to add (so my future self can remember) that even with this list of weekly goals and regular maternity leave tasks, I still accomplish and complete many other to-do items to run and mange the house like: clean the floors, prep dinner, make lunches, do preschool drop off/pick up, general tidying, multiple loads of laundry, pay bills, claim receipts etc etc in any case here is how I did with my goals last week.
Read another chapter of the book I am reading (sadly no, I am struggling to find the right time to read – holding a book while nursing isn’t very comfortable)
Bread this week? Bread this week! (nope, and I realized i can’t commit to this goal until after June)

She has been smiling for a while now and we’ve heard her giggle. She is now more into PDA in that she makes physical contact with me, the mister or her big sis.
She has a favourite toy – its a hand-me-down set of play rings lol. She likes to look a colourful books …along with the two high contrast black and white books we borrowed have renewed 6 times from the library (this is one of them).
I can see that she’s paying attention to us eat and it’s got me a little nervous about starting solids. She’s found her hands so she’s usually got a few fingers in her mouth when she sees us eating at the dinner table.
She is keeping her hands open more now and we love watching her kick and move her arms #DoYouEvenLift.
I see more neighbourhood stroller walks and visits to the library coming up in our future (instead of running errands or doing a grocery runs :P) as our Miss El is no longer officially a newborn.
I love doing these because it gives me ideas of fun things to plan over the course of the next few months. In the past I would just a write a list out on our kitchen chalkboard, This one I actually made into a graphic (love making graphics) and printed it and taped it to our fridge with a piece of gold washi tape. :)
This list is a list for all of us! I am excited to try new things with the girls. Although Miss El is a little to little to fully enjoy these activities, Miss S will definitely soak it all up.
Honestly most of the days I wear leggings and a t-shirt. #MatLeaveProblems
On occasion I’ll wear something cute, but I almost always forget to get a picture Plus having two kiddos doesn’t lend well to take outfit of the day shots.
So here I am recreating what I wear in my master bedroom with a tripod. It’s not glamours in the least, but it makes me feel like me (well the me that used to take tons of #OOTD pictures before having kids)
I meditated again today. I am sure this is most peoples’ problem with meditation, in that they can’t keep their mind still (i.e. the influx of thoughts doesn’t stop). When I feel like my thoughts have taken over, I try and bring my focus back by thinking about an ocean wave continuously crashing on a sandy shore.
I also did my sun salutations. I realized that I felt more of a flow with my practice this week than last. I also immediately felt the soreness in my arms.
My last thought of the day is my buy nothing challenge. It’s been 6 days and it’s already been difficult – not sure how I’ll keep this up for 3 months. I almost convinced myself that I needed to replace my sea salt hair spray, thought I could pick up a new ‘summer colour’ for my nails and tried to find logical reasons to buy another cold shoulder top (I love those by the way). I think the feeling of buying is what I truly crave which is somewhat being settled by buying things for events (party supplies, birthday gifts etc). But I love practicing restraint rather than impulse buying. Ironically it’s very freeing.
