7 ways to show up for yourself

As we round off the year, I like to share tid bits of wisdom that I’ve gained or read.  And I think it’s really important that we show up for yourselves.  Sometimes we have to be our own hype person, our own hand to high hive or shoulder to cry on.  The list below are some of my tried and true methods to showing up for yourself.

*all pictures are my own* do not use without explicit and written consent.

  1. Commit to routines that are good for your well being – be disciplined to do them enough even when you don’t want to.
  2. Practice self awareness – listening to your needs and course correcting when you aren’t aligning to your ultimate goals
  3. Give yourself grace – we don’t need to be perfect, it’s okay to fumble, take the rest you need, what matters is getting quickly getting back to your routines.
  4. Take care of your daily human needs: stay hydrated, eat healthy, get enough sleep, get sunshine and practice moderate activity
  5. Be curious – take every opportunity to learn and stretch yourself
  6. Make yourself a priority – show up for yourself, take care of yourself and be proud of your accomplishments
  7. Always have a grateful heart – it gives you perspective

Habits of Successful Women

Self talk can be both constructive or positive.  Maybe it’s age and the wisdom that comes with it but I’m able to intercept the no so positive self talk dialogues.   Interestingly enough I also find that my self awareness has increased so much that even when I’m dealing with certain situations I can usually insert more positive self talk like: “you are tougher than this”, “this is nothing compared to that” or “it’s time to set you intentions, create a plan and get to where you need to be”.

Resiliency is probably the top skill of successful people & more important for women.  The type of resiliency that leans into emotional endurance and divine feminine energy. Read on to learn more about the habits (ask skills, activities and routines) of successful women.

What is Human Design?

Have you heard of the “Human Design Chart”? (aka Human Design, HDC, Body Graph).
Looking at the picture you may think it’s some sort of robotic humanoid. Well it’s not robotic, but it does have everything to do with being human and how to understand our whole human system so we can live our best life.

The best definition I’ve heard is that Human Design is equal parts practical and woowoo.
Human Design can be used as a target operating model for a person on how they can live in alignment with their truest self, how they make decisions and what gifts they are meant to give to the world. It’s both helpful to the self but also to people you work and live with (think business teams and families). Interestingly, the only pieces of information required to build your body graph are your birth date, time and location.

I’ve been learning more about my HDC for the last 2 years and I think I’m ready to share more about what I’ve learned about my own chart. Check back soon to learn more!

Personal Power & Growth books on my TBR list

I’ve always been an avid reader. And I mean reading reading. Not just rom-coms or chic-lit – those of which I know book-tok made popular but I can only take so much of. I mean biographies, business books, classics and of course sci-fis. I like to change it up! But more so I like to give my mind good ideas to learn and innovate from.

Right behind reading sci-fi, I always gravitate to personal power books (some times negatively referred to as “self help books”). I feel like they allow me to interpret myself and my experiences in a positive way. Also they give me self-awareness so I can make more optimistic decisions or take better actions towards a goal.

Personal growth books help me expand. Make me realize that we are more alike then we think but also dares me to go to places I’ve never been before (both in life and in my thinking).

From reading personal growth books, I’ve come to realize that life isn’t just about external validation but rather reflection and of a introspective growth journey.

Today I’m sharing a few “self-help” books on my TBR. Things to help me expand my brain & nurture an opportunistic mindset.

What personal growth books do you have on your TBR?

Activities to build mindfulness into my day

As a working mom, blogger, etsy shop owner, wife, home owner – I’ve become really aware of how mindfulness plays into my day.  My ability to focus, being intentional, doing this without rushing and not multi-tasking.  I know mindfulness is important to me because it’s helped me have a greater enthusiasm for life and higher self esteem.  Read on to learn some activities I’ve started incorporating mindfulness to help me observe my thoughts & practice the art of leisure

Mindful art / art therapy

I’m still guilty of multi tasking. But I’ve found when I’m making art (painting, mixed media, photography) I don’t actually multi task! Making art is a great way to express myself beyond words. It encourages us to be present in the moment & experiences, through noticing the sensations we are experiencing as well as how our art (the way the paint moves or how the picture I just captured looks on my digital display) responds to our input.

Listening to solfeggio music:

Ever step into a spa and feel immediately relaxed? Spas help you relax because of their environment. And part of that environment is the music! I recently found solfeggio music and how the different tones can help you promote benefits to different parts of the mind and body. The use of tones and frequencies music dates back to ancient Sanskrit chants (read: Om) but the modern science is fascinating. Apparently DNA become more healthy (ie show increased UV absorption) when they were exposed to different tones (such as the Sanskrit chants). Further research confirmed that the certain frequencies of the Earth’s ionosphere matched that of the human brain wave patterns! (Notably the frequency that encourages cell regeneration & healing) Most musical instruments were tuned to match the earth’s vibrational frequency so by default listening to solfeggio music (specifically designed to recreate the earth’s & human brainwaves) can help you feel at ease and change the your DNA!

Deleting social apps

Mindless scrolling is the most obvious of activities to remove from your day. I delete social media apps which immediately stops the scrolling for no reason. This then improved productivity because I am more focused!

Anytime gratitude & visualization as often as I can

Being able to take control of your self talk/the voices in your head is an important way to be mindful. Not letting negative self talk run a muck in your mind can be prevent by training yourself to see the good (have gratitude) and be positive (visualize something that would be help you think the opposite of the negative self talk).

A little lesson on Chakras

A couple of years ago, I finally spent some time learning about Chakras.  They are the energy centers of the body.  And although 7 are the most commonly exercised Chakras – there are 100s in the body.

Here is mini less on the 7 chakras shown above:

  1. Root Chakra – Represented by the colour red is located near your tail bone.  When this chakra is balanced, you’ll feel safe and grounded both physically and emotionally.
  2. Sacral Chakra – Represented by the colour orange is located right below your belly button.  This chakra is connected to our feelings of self worth and helps us harness our creativity.
  3. Solar Plexus Chakra – Indicated by the colour yellow and located in the upper abdomen.  This chakra supports our confidence, power & self esteem
  4. Heart Chakra – This is the green chakra and is right over your heart.  When aligned, we feel free to give love and also feel loved.
  5. Throat Chakra – This is the colour turquoise and is on our throat/neck area.  It governs our ability to speak our mind and heart with confidence.  It also allows us to listen with compassion.
  6. Third eye Chakra – Represented by the colour indigo and sits between our eye brows.  It supports imagination and provides intuitive powers.
  7. Crown Chakra – Indicated by a violet (ultra violet or white) colour and sits above our head.  When balanced we feel connected to our life’s purpose and one consciousness spirituality.

Stay tuned for an upcoming Chakra lesson on how to balance and strengthen your Chakras.
