Weekend Activities + Weekly Goals (Part 4)

Yea for LOOONNNG weekends! #TheUnofficialStartToSummer.  Technically the weekend isn’t over yet.  We are having friends over for a BBQ today.  We just finished marinating some chicken and reviewing tomorrows menu.  Our group of friends (and their kiddos) are full of variety: vegetarians, vegans, carnivores, food allergies etc.  It’s actually kind of fun to be creative and think of menu items to cater to such a group.  I hope I remember to take lots of pictures :)

We also hosted my in laws for a belated Mother’s Day celebration. The Mister and I enjoyed curating the menu and then actually making it happen.  We used to do a lot of side-by-side cooking / working in the kitchen.   But for a few years, MBAs and kids kind of took over so… really loving that we are getting to do this again!

Okay on to a review of last weeks goals:

  1. Finish reading my book (made some progress but still not done)
  2. Gather ingredients for this bread recipe (I didn’t realize how much research is required to make bread – this needs its own post)
  3. Work out M, Tu, Fr & get 10K steeps 5/7 days
  4. Sort out plans for Miss S 3rd birthday
  5. Journal and Meditate
  6. Print Pictures or start making a photobook
  7. Update Etsy listings with my scrabble prints
  8. Do a mini grocery haul
  9. Buy the next level of potting mix and transplant my plants
  10. Work on Baby Nursery (includes an Ikea trip)

Next week I plan on taking it easy, relax and just generally getting “caught up” rather than go-go-go.

  1. Finish reading my book
  2. Continue research/gathering ingredients for the bread recipe
  3. Take more photography ex: OOTD, family photos, sisters snapshots
  4. Get my 10K steps 5/7 days next week & Work out 4/7 times
  5. Get a grip with my laundry piles
  6. Update my Etsy shop
  7. Water colour painting an a new canvas part print
  8. Do 10 sun salutations
  9. List out monthly goals for June
  10. Start working on some photos books

I’ve dropped the meditation and journaling items on my list for now.

I am torn between working out and sitting still.
I am torn between blogging and journaling.
Why?

Because these activities are one in the same to me.  Running clears my mind and I truly believe has a meditative effect on me.  And although I am a firm believe of putting pen to paper, when I can’t (read: not making it a priority in my morning) I’ll take regular blogging and painting over it any day.

Have a beautiful week everyone!!

Weekend Activities + Weekly Goals (Part 3)

Found another #BumpStyle OOTD! How fitting as mother’s day was yesterday.

We had a crazy busy weekend but a great one!!  Saturday was spent seeing the inlaws for breakfast, a friends place for lunch, the wave pool with some water fun for the kiddos and then a crazy 5pm dinner (read: circus) with almost as many kids as there were adults.

Mother’s Day was probably the best one yet.  The Hubz let me sleep in (well as much as I could with a 2 month old) and he and Miss S brought me breakfast in bed, a card and a sweet home made gift with a picture of me with my girls!

On to my recap and goals for next week.  Even though I did a lot las week (we also got the car serviced, did a huge grocery haul by MYSELF, a million loads of laundry etc) I still feel I didn’t keep up with my weekly goals because they weren’t infront of me (i.e. I should write them down in my planner so I can associate daily tasks to them).  I did pretty good but can definitely do better.

  1. Finish reading my book (I am only 1/4 of the way in) Still reading *eye roll*
  2. Decide on a bread to make (get recipe list) Still deciding but like this one
  3. Hit 10k steps 5/7 days I got to 4/7 so counting this as done!
  4. Workout 4/7 times this week (cardio, RT/ST, FR, stretch) I made a serious effort 3/7 days
  5. Journal (52 lists & 5 Minute journal) *womp womp*
  6. Meditate Made a small attempt to pay attention to my breath during a PT sesh
  7. Update Etsy listings with my scrabble prints
  8. Lunch & Playdate with mom friends Yes and so much fun!
  9. Finish my TY cards
  10. Try a new recipe for dinner I made this and it was sooo good!

So by default, I will move some of last weeks plans to this week, tweak a few to make them more realistic and add a few more items that are currently on my mental to do list.

  2. Gather ingredients for this bread recipe
  3. Work out M, Tu, Fr & get 10K steeps 5/7 days
  4. Sort out plans for Miss S 3rd birthday.
  5. Journal and Meditate
  6. Print Pictures or start making a photobook

  10. Work on Baby Nursery (includes an Ikea trip)

Weekend Activities + Weekly Goals (Part 2)

Another busy weekend is over.  On Saturday I attended a dear friend’s bridal shower. I did take Miss El with me and thankfully she was on her best behaviour.  Today we celebrated a few birthdays and anniversaries on my in-laws side and then had a friend visit us and meet out littlest babe.  We winded down this evening with a glass of wine and finished watching this movie.

Last week I was overly ambitous and ended up having to deal with rain, tendonitis and more rain, but here is how I did:

  1. Go to the Born to Read library program with my friend and our daughters DONE!
  2. Decide on a bread recipe to make
  3. Plant my tomatoes DONE: blog post in the works
  4. Work out 4 times this week 1/2 DONE: Worked out twice?
  5. Hit 10K steps 5/7 days 1/2 Done: (3/7 days I hit 10K or more)
  6. Journal (in my 52 lists and 5 minute journal) 1/2 Done: harder than I thought
  7. Finish my EdCal for May DONE: blog post in the works
  8. Listen to more music in the house DONE: for the first few days then there was a nap strike
  9. Mediate
  10. Finish a book

I didn’t get everything done, but it really helped me to stay focused on things I wanted to do without letting the weather or mom duties stop me.  For instance, I started planting the tomatoes at some point in the afternoon but didn’t actually complete the task until the evening of the next day (that included photographing the process).

So here is next week’s list.  I think 10 “to-dos” is a good number so I’ll continue with that.

  2. Decide on a bread to make (get recipe list)
  3. Hit 10k steps 5/7 days
  4. Workout 4/7 times this week (cardio, RT/ST, FR, stretch)
  5. Journal (52 lists & 5 Minute journal)
  6. Meditate
  7. Update Etsy listings with my scrabble prints
  8. Lunch & Playdate with mom friends
  9. Finish my TY cards
  10. Try a new recipe for dinner.

Weekend Activities + Weekly Goals (Part 1)

This past weekend was a special one for us, we celebrated Miss El’s 40 days.  I think most cultures (including western medicine) consider that both mom/baby’s recovery and adjustment to life occurs over the first 40 days.  There are some extreme views about it but for me it was really about resting, get spoiled by my parents/in laws, bonding with Miss El and adjusting to life as a family of four.

And by bonding, I mean nursing!  I am currently all about outfits that allow me to feed the babe easily… that said I have never purchased a nursing top in my life! (ha!)

TLY_OOTD_NursingStyle1

During this time, I gravitate towards loose/flowy tops, button ups (obvi) and chic leggings to keep me feeling styled even when I got a babe on the hip.  What else works best for me? A tank top I can easily pull down for feedings.
