As busy as this time of year is for us (Rakhi, Diwali, Kaurva Chauth, Birthdays and Anniversaries) we are still pretty much pulled in a million different directions with a million other things not related to any of those.
The mister is on the last leg of his MBA (we are ALL looking forward to it being over – especially Miss S). She is the most happiest when he doesn’t have evening class or group meetings but she’s kind of use to it. Crazy how kiddos are so aware.
Outside of that I have registered for a marketing class. It’s a lot of reading and writing – and I didn’t realize how much work it would be.
The weather has tremendously cooled down so our park days are over for now (unless we can make it on a sunny Saturday – which hasn’t happened yet). So I’ve picked up some more art and craft supplies to give Miss S some new creative activities. Beads, pipe cleaners, glue stick, feathers, pom poms and water colour paints (still trying to find a pair of toddler friendly scissors). Her water colouring painting require some serious concentration!
Outside of that doing my very best to eat more veggies, protein, get my 10K + steps in a day (#LOVEMyFitBit), reading ACTUAL books, dishes, home cooking, keeping up with 1se (gaah missed a few days) and reeelaaax when I can.
I feel like this day came before I even had a chance to think about it. Today, Miss S officially started preschool (junior preschool that is). She’s been transitioning from her toddler daycare class a few hours everyday the last week and we know she’s super excited as she comes home to tell us that she went to “pee-skoooool” today!
She knows the teacher in the class and all of her friends already transitioned mid summer – and we are told she’s enjoying herself so far.
I am taking this opportunity to take an obligatory “first day of school picture” and do a quick update on her (27th month update?!) + share a little back to school preschool style. I picked up some cute dresses for her as well as some basics like long sleeve tees and printed leggings – because those are definitely our go tos. #WhoNeedsASmockToPaintAnyway (ummm my 2yr old does!)
Favourite colour: Purple Favourite Food: Spaghetti and meatballs Favourite Activity: Going to the Park, Making us food in her play kitchen, Doing story time with her stuffies, playing with her older cousin Quirky thing she says/does: Usually forgets the number four when counting, singing “my mama, my mama, my mama / my papa, my papi, my papi”, if we tell her I love you, she always replies with “You love me mama??”, love LOVES ripping her towel off after her bath and walking around in her birthday suit for 10 minutes, when she doesn’t want us around she tells us “go away home” (um we are already home).
Been a little quieter round the blog than I’d like. We’ve been just soaking up some family time and getting some projects done around the house (with the Mister out of classes until mid-september – we are taking full advantage!!)
First item on the list was a storage method for Miss S’s toy “room”. I use the word room lightly because we just converted the eat-in area of our kitchen into her space. It has her gazzillian toys, a small desk, toy kitchen, toy stroller, toy lawn mower, mini basketball net etc – well you get the picture. For mostly anything on our main floor, I prefer semi-minimalistic and neutral colours (although I can’t avoid it with the rainbow colour explosion of toys). So this with the white bucket-drawers from Ikea ended up being the best option.
Aaannnd, Miss S is also getting a room update. I’ve been going crazy pinning, making lists and moleskin designing her new room. The main inspiration for her room has been her favourite colour (purple) and my research into Montessori bedrooms. Still in the planning stages but I don’t see the room being completely Montessori Method just because we don’t typically operate like that in our house (I don’t have any education in it), we are too much go with the flow/trying to stay afloat kind of parents (haha) and because Miss S is in just a regular daycare. In any case – here is a sneak peak of the mister painting in his PJs. Needless to say, Sanya goes into this room 1-2 a day just to admire the finish walls.
Since it’s the end of the summer we are trying to figure out when we’ll be doing our annual trip to the Toronto Midway. I really go for the food (hello deep fried everaayyy-thaang), the carni games (love watching my man slug a few fast ones for a tiny stuffie :P) and the photography :). But with the CNE being open, it means Fall is just around the corner – for me that means: pumpkin spice lattes, decorating the house for Halloween and dark moody nail polish!
Last but not least, I have been trying to be more consious to taking family photos. Miss S gets tons of photos by herself or with other family members so I realized that she also needs to be able to look back and see pictures with her parents. Even though it’s a grainy iPhone photo – it’s something!
