Life Lately #ForMemoriesSake

I thought I’d do a life lately post for memories sake.  Although we take a lot of photos on our phones I have to really work on taking photos with my big camera.  Second to that I really have to work on printing those photos.  I am so guilty of taking photos and hoarding them on a single storage device.  Hence why I’ve started sharing more on this blog.  At least I’ll have these posts for memories sake.

Adding another kiddo to the fambam is a no joke. (LOL – read nervous laughter!!)

Bringing one child into the lives of two adults is nothing compared to having a second.  With your first, your whole world revolves around the one child and then you all of sudden you have to share/split your energy, time, tasks, responsibilities between two – it’s a real game changer.

Although I’ve been told after you have two you could have ten no problem… LOL!

Miss S is really into Miss E.  She’s all about the kisses, finger hugs, feeding with bottles, helping to get things, telling me that Miss E is biting me lol etc.  Although as now a mom of two, I have felt and seen a sting from my older little towards me and the Hubz.  We are doing our best to spend as much time with her and even giving her special “day-dates” with either both or one of us so I am hoping that this is a phase and it will pass soon.

I have been balancing quite a bit – but I actually feel good about it.  Along with the responsibilities of a growing family, I am trying to be more active on my social media channels, making plans for growth here and also finishing up a course I am enrolled in.  So yes a babe on the hip and studying is a real thing for me right now.

That said, I am trying to rest as much as possible and listen to my body as well.  I did make it out for a lunch run with the Hubz the other day.  It felt good to get out wear something cute and freeze our butts off in this prolonged Canadian winter :P

And of course I am spending tons of time cuddling a newborn.  It definitely feels different this time around.  Maybe because I have more knowledgable or maybe because I don’t have enough time to think about things because we are literally in survival mode some nights :)

As with the last time, I am nursing and pumping.  It provides me the closeness as well as the freedom that I need as a woman and a momma :)

Spring is here and I am completely in the mood to refresh my routine and start wearing some lighter colours.  Also planning on #babywearing for some neighbourhood walks :)

In April I plan to setting up 3 daily to-dos to keep myself inspired and motivated as my mat leave really begins.  Things like:

  • getting out for a sling walk with Miss E
  • going to the library program
  • getting to a mommies group
  • also adding more to the blog and etsy (more photography, more inspiration and maybe some vlogging/videography)
  • Scheduling Posts (blog and social channels)
  • Change my nail polish, straighten my hair or do a facemark #SelfCare!!

Some other things I was thinking about is:

  • Writing out the birth story (if anything for memories sake)
  • Printing some photos
  • Reading more books!
  • Working on some new projects and mentorships
  • Working out again (really looking forward to this)
  • Painting, Planting and Knitting :)
  • Figure out my #The100DayProject project #SoExcited

A little more valentines celebration

As the weather is starting to warm and get spectacular outside – I almost forgot that I had a few last #Vday pix to share.

This year I got SPOILED by the hubz when he had these flowers delivered to me (I was #WFH).  We then enjoyed our annual valentine’s dinner of fried chicken, bisquits and gravy with mash.  I was a happy laaaadddyyy :P

The weekend prior I decided to do a valentine’s breakfast for my #fambam.  Heart shaped pancakes, heart shape strawberries, whip cream and some blueberries (the hubz fav).

AAaaannnnndd I promise that is ALL for all of our vday celebrations this year :) #IPromise!!

Preschool Valentines Ideas

Hope everyone enjoyed valentines with their loved ones, their kids, families, lover(s), fav bottle of wine ;)

This past weekend, Miss S and I worked on preparing the valentine’s goodies for her friends at preschool.

I know when I was growing up that giving a one sided card was the norm but I wanted to do something special.  I see most of the children in her class everyday (either at drop off and pick up) and I know that Miss S really considers her classmates her friends just by how much she talks about them :)

And, taken that we didn’t do ANYTHING for Christmas (other than gifting her teachers with something special) I figured we could go a little overboard for Vday!

TLY_VdayCards2

We packed some #AllergyFree goodie bags with pencils and stickers.  The kiddo DIYed her valentines cards by gluing (or in her words “gueing”) a few hearts onto a card that I prepared (pretty quick and easy: fold a regular printer paper and a pink construction paper 3 times to create 8 parts/cards, cut each section and then glue the white sections to the pink sections – as seen above).

The activity was a great way to practice patience (for both of us – ha!), fine motor skills and counting.  I asked her to count 3 hearts per card, then she had to practice using a glue stick (something I know loves doing lol).

Yes…we do EVERYTHING in this highchair!

The activity was a success and she really got into the grove of making her cards as she would keep asking me “who is one this for”? :)

Pinterest has some really cute valentines ideas like this, this and this.  I think these might be great I ideas for next year and to get Miss S even more involved.  (Well as long as she is still into it!)

Life Lately

As busy as this time of year is for us (Rakhi, Diwali, Kaurva Chauth, Birthdays and Anniversaries) we are still pretty much pulled in a million different directions with a million other things not related to any of those.

The mister is on the last leg of his MBA (we are ALL looking forward to it being over – especially Miss S).  She is the most happiest when he doesn’t have evening class or group meetings but she’s kind of use to it.  Crazy how kiddos are so aware.

Outside of that I have registered for a marketing class.  It’s a lot of reading and writing – and I didn’t realize how much work it would be.

The weather has tremendously cooled down so our park days are over for now (unless we can make it on a sunny Saturday – which hasn’t happened yet).  So I’ve picked up some more art and craft supplies to give Miss S some new creative activities.  Beads, pipe cleaners, glue stick, feathers, pom poms and water colour paints (still trying to find a pair of toddler friendly scissors).  Her water colouring painting require some serious concentration!

Outside of that doing my very best to eat more veggies, protein, get my 10K + steps in a day (#LOVEMyFitBit), reading ACTUAL books, dishes, home cooking, keeping up with 1se (gaah missed a few days) and reeelaaax when I can.

Someone is starting preschool!

I feel like this day came before I even had a chance to think about it.  Today, Miss S officially started preschool (junior preschool that is).  She’s been transitioning from her toddler daycare class a few hours everyday the last week and we know she’s super excited as she comes home to tell us that she went to “pee-skoooool” today!

She knows the teacher in the class and all of her friends already transitioned mid summer – and we are told she’s enjoying herself so far.

I am taking this opportunity to take an obligatory “first day of school picture” and do a quick update on her (27th month update?!) + share a little back to school preschool style.  I picked up some cute dresses for her as well as some basics like long sleeve tees and printed leggings – because those are definitely our go tos.  #WhoNeedsASmockToPaintAnyway (ummm my 2yr old does!)

Favourite colour: Purple
Favourite Food: Spaghetti and meatballs
Favourite Activity: Going to the Park, Making us food in her play kitchen, Doing story time with her stuffies, playing with her older cousin
Quirky thing she says/does: Usually forgets the number four when counting, singing “my mama, my mama, my mama / my papa, my papi, my papi”, if we tell her I love you, she always replies with “You love me mama??”, love LOVES ripping her towel off after her bath and walking around in her birthday suit for 10 minutes, when she doesn’t want us around she tells us “go away home” (um we are already home).

…ok could go on but I’ll leave you with this:

Life Lately

Been a little quieter round the blog than I’d like.  We’ve been just soaking up some family time and getting some projects done around the house (with the Mister out of classes until mid-september – we are taking full advantage!!)

TLY_SanyaRoomUpdate2

First item on the list was a storage method for Miss S’s toy “room”.  I use the word room lightly because we just converted the eat-in area of our kitchen into her space.  It has her gazzillian toys, a small desk, toy kitchen, toy stroller, toy lawn mower, mini basketball net etc – well you get the picture.  For mostly anything on our main floor, I prefer semi-minimalistic and neutral colours (although I can’t avoid it with the rainbow colour explosion of toys).   So this with the white bucket-drawers from Ikea ended up being the best option.

TLY_SanyaRoomUpdate

Aaannnd, Miss S is also getting a room update.  I’ve been going crazy pinning, making lists and moleskin designing her new room.  The main inspiration for her room has been her favourite colour (purple) and my research into Montessori bedrooms.  Still in the planning stages but I don’t see the room being completely Montessori Method just because we don’t typically operate like that in our house (I don’t have any education in it), we are too much go with the flow/trying to stay afloat kind of parents (haha) and because Miss S is in just a regular daycare.  In any case – here is a sneak peak of the mister painting in his PJs.  Needless to say, Sanya goes into this room 1-2 a day just to admire the finish walls.

TLY_SanyaRoomUpdate3

Since it’s the end of the summer we are trying to figure out when we’ll be doing our annual trip to the Toronto Midway.  I really go for the food (hello deep fried everaayyy-thaang), the carni games (love watching my man slug a few fast ones for a tiny stuffie :P) and the photography :).  But with the CNE being open, it means Fall is just around the corner – for me that means: pumpkin spice lattes, decorating the house for Halloween and dark moody nail polish!

Last but not least, I have been trying to be more consious to taking family photos.  Miss S gets tons of photos by herself or with other family members so I realized that she also needs to be able to look back and see pictures with her parents.  Even though it’s a grainy iPhone photo – it’s something!
